Meet Betsy O’Berry

Betsy is a retired Certified Public Accountant with 39 years of experience owning and running her own businesses and advising other business owners.  She understands budgets and planning and is eager to dive into the work of planning for a bright future for Anoka County.

Serving Anoka County as a Commissioner is an extension of the community work Betsy has done all her life.  She has served her profession as a past President of the Minnesota Chapter of the American Women's Society of CPAs and as a contributor to The Footnote, the journal of the Minnesota State Society of CPAs.

She has served our community as a member of the Anoka County Historical Society, Anoka Community Anti-Crime Commission, and the Ramsey Community Foundation, working to beautify and bring arts activities to Ramsey.

Betsy has been  member of Cross of Hope Lutheran Church in Ramsey for 28 years.  She has served as Council President and in many other volunteer roles, including Treasurer, worship assistant, funeral assistant and nursery assistant.

Betsy and her husband, Jeff, have been married for 38 years.  They have one son, Nick, who is a high school Social Studies teacher. But the house is actually ruled by their cat, Jewels.

Betsy is a blood donor having donated more than 10 gallons of blood in her lifetime.  She actively encourages others to give the gift of saving a life through blood donations.  Find a blood drive near you at https://www.redcross.org/give-blood.html

One thing many people don't know about Betsy is that in 2002, she was a bone marrow donor for a woman with cancer.  Because of Betsy's donation, the recipient lived to see her oldest daughter graduate from high school.  If you are interested in getting on the bone marrow donor registry, visit bethematch.org.
