The most common question I am asked is, "What does a County Commissioner do?"

Anoka County has 7 Commissioners who plan and make decisions for the operation of the County.  When Congress and the state legislature pass laws, it is up to the County Sheriff and local police departments to enforce them.  When they allocate funds for social benefit programs like SNAP benefits (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) for our seniors, the county administers those programs.  When they allocate funding for roads, the County actually contracts for and oversees the work.

In a very real way, the County is, "where the rubber meets the road!"
